Failing at time

As we are aware, time is our most precious resource. A lot of the time I spend in contemplation is about how to maximize the effectiveness of time spent. How do I maintain systems that encourage me to focus on the work that I want to do.

I fail most of the time. Spectacularly. And that’s okay. It’s good to fail. As long as you don’t give up.

You’ll get another shot, and another, and another. If you can just pick yourself up afterwards.

Broken models

Each and every system is based on previous innovations. How we live our daily lives, what we we eat, use, leave behind. Every aspect of a system, and we don’t typically question it.

There are those that do. Those who see the world differently. How things could be better. How performance could be improved.

And yet, with the exception of perhaps the cell phone, we’ve been doing everything much the same since the advent of the computer.

So, then… What comes next?

It can be a lot

We sometimes let ourselves get so overwhelmed by the choices that we have to make that we… don’t.

We don’t choose. Which they say is a kind of choice. But it isn’t. Not really. It’s stagnation.

And if you stagnate, then you’re really just letting the world pass you by.

Busy vs. productive

We’ve done this before, but there comes a time when we have to buckle down and do the important work. Each and every day that passes, we’re facing the pressing question of how to spend our time.

It’s easy enough to fill our days with things that keep us busy. And we seem to be busy all the time.

But so many of us don’t accomplish anything. So that brings up the question: Are you being productive? Or just keeping yourself busy.

Don’t procrastinate

It is important to prioritize the important work and regularly focus on completing it. However, it is not uncommon to fall into the trap of procrastination and neglect important tasks.

In order to overcome procrastination and stay productive, it is important to prioritize tasks, set realistic goals, and break them down into smaller, more manageable tasks.

Creating a daily to-do list and using time management techniques can help prioritize tasks and ensure that you stay on track.

It is also important to eliminate distractions and maintain a routine. Establish a dedicated workspace where you can be focused, minimize interruptions, and create a productive environment.

Additionally, taking breaks and practicing mindfulness can help you stay focused and refreshed.

Healing the disorganized

Effective time management and prioritization are crucial for overcoming disorganization.

By creating a schedule and sticking to it, individuals can ensure that all tasks are completed efficiently.

Overall, disorganization can be mitigated by implementing strategies that promote clarity and structure.

Minding the mind

“You’re only as strong as the weakest link.”

“The whole is more than the sum of its parts.”

“You get out what you put in.”

These aphorisms relate to a great many number of things. In this instance, I’m focusing on the mind. It’s uniquely capable, while at the same time possibly the most susceptible of all. It parses through all information the human body receives, and gives us thought – both rational and subconscious. It tempers our breathing cadence, helps us wake and fall asleep, and lets us sort through our thoughts.

A steady diet of disastrous events, even if just consumed in the form of news, can be deleterious to its functions. By giving it good input, you’re doing your best to ensure a positive output.
