Distraction Overload

The constant pinging, buzzing, and popping up of notifications is altering our concentration.

Distraction is incessant. It takes the mind away from the task at hand and forces one to switch attention, making it harder to focus and complete tasks efficiently.

And we invite it in almost unwaveringly.

Start small

Start by breaking down a large project into smaller, more manageable tasks. Set an initial goal that’s ambitious but achievable, rather than one that’s completely out of reach.

It’s rarely important as to how big that first step is. Just so long as you take it.

Lean in

The fear of making the wrong choice can lead to indecisiveness and procrastination. This can impact everything.

From simple daily choices to major life decisions, it can cause stress and hinder progress.

Don’t shy away from decisions. Lean in to the discomfort, and see what you’re capable of.

Two months

Nearly two months of daily posts.

Not for the bench mark. Not even that I think I’ve said something worth saying. Yet.

But it will come. As with all ideas, it just takes time to sort through the cruft.

The early sales aren’t always the important ones

Yes, early sales can provide crucial feedback. But those people whom you think are trusting you? They’re like;y just the early adopters, trying something out. They won’t stick. Unless your product is really good. Like, really.

But, that doesn’t mean you get discouraged. Use these interactions to refine your product or service.

Following that, your sales might be more indicative of your long-term success.

Writing can be a joy

For me, it’s something that I do for myself, though I get to share it.

In the moment, though, it’s private and joyous. Though there are times of uncertainty, it nearly always leads to a feeling of accomplishment.

We all have at least one thing like that. An activity that brings us joy.

I have friends for whom it’s music – playing the piano or singing. Others take joy in creating computer programs or telling stories.

Find your thing, then devote time to it.
